Travel Blog's on Food
Hi there, as you know my origin birth place is in Kelantan. So, for my entry this time I want to share with you all about my favourite kuih-muih in Kelantan. 😍
Kelantan is well-known for its delicacies. The dish is also attractive to grow in other countries. If you are on holiday in Kelantan, do not forget to try the traditional Kelantan food which is a lot of strange names but it tastes delicious. 😋
Here's a list of the foods I love from childhood and never feel bored eating the same food, because i love it so much.
AKOK KEDUT & AKOK BUNGA
A kuih that I always never miss buying when I back to Kelantan. This kuih is popular especially during the fasting month.
The akok kedut (tiny and wrinkled kuih) are usually found in 2 colors: brown and green. This color is influenced by the quantity of eggs and also pandan leaves.
Akok bunga or in Terengganu are known as kuih menganang a recipe similar to that of akok kedut but the shape is larger as a cake.
BUTIR NANGKA

A kind of kuih that looks similar to badak berendam but it has a twist in terms of making and texture of its buah nangka which sometimes makes the texture so colorful. But I prefer green which is the color makes from pandan leaves water. Because for me it looks more interesting and natural.
LOMPAT TIKAM
A kind of kuih that is eaten with a sweet gravy cooked using gula melaka.
Lompat tikam in Kelantan is more colorful with the contents of the red glutinous rice with a slice of flour mixture of green and white make from coconut milk curd.
BUAH TANJUNG

A sweet, yellow buah tanjung is a must-eat dish at bigger occasions such as engagement or weddings.
The elderly people once say, buah tanjung were once known as a dish of royalty in Kelantan.
JALA EMAS
If elsewhere it is known as Roti Jala which is usually eaten with curry. But in Kelantan, roti jala can be eaten with their sweet sauces, kuah kuzi or you can even eat it on its own.
The texture of jala emas is also quite different and is more wet and the taste of sweet fats is different from ordinary roti jala. So good...

SANGGUPAL
Kuih biji sagu with coconut milk. In the sacks of sago there are usually red bean content. But, sometimes you can eat plain Sanggupal with sweet taste coconut milk.
KUIH TOPI
The kuih is quite unique and is named Kuih Topi because of its shape like hat when fried. It tastes sweet fat and tastes good when eaten as well as fried.
Usually, in markets, you can see the sellers of these kuih topi have a few pots on their counter to facilitate them to fry the kuih topi if anyone wants to buy it.
PUTU HALBA
Putu halba is among the popular kuih in Kelantan especially when it comes to the monsoon season. Apparently it is like a putu piring but it is produced from fresh tapioca grater mixed with halba, cooked with red sugar and eaten with grated coconut. It's good to eat hot. The texture is a bit stunning and it is more fun to eat during cold weather.
KUIH PERIA
Kuih peria are made from glutinous flour and made like "buah peria". Inside kuih peria there are contains red beans.
That's all for today. Still, there are a lot of kuih-muih in Kelantan that I love to share with you all. Last but not least, I hope you enjoy reading my blog and don't forget to try traditional food in Kelantan. Till we meet again in another story of mine. 😊
